What's the plan?
SV 'Heart' is back on the hard in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhone. The first shake down cruise in June revealed a number of issues that needed to be tackled. The sails and canvas have been overhauled, the liferaft has been re-certified, a new dinghy has been purchased, the deck has been sanded and oiled, new fire extinguishers installed and she has been cleaned inside. She still needs some electronics installed, the teak in the cockpit needs sanding and oiling, the diesel engine is waiting for a new alternator and starter motor to be installed, new propellor blades have been ordered and need installing and the small crack in the beam underneath the pushpit needs fixing. This will all hopefully be done by September 2025. Then what? She'll stay in the Golfe de Lion until summer 2026 in order to have time to discover and iron out issues that might still appear after having been on the hard for so long. She'll be doing trips to Marseille, Porquerolles, Rosas. and beyond. She'll initially be day cruising from harbour to harbour, with plenty of time to discover small villages and bigger towns. In 2026 the plan is to sail to Elba or Pisa in order to overwinter there. In 2027 she will hopefully sail further south to Ragusa, either via mainland Italy or via Sardegna. But plans might change ... 🙂
