SV 'Heart' is a 1984 Hans Christian 43T, built in Taiwan for the emerging US cruising market.
The first owner, a heart surgeon called 'Heartfield' from Texas, commissioned 'Heart' in 1984. He sailed the Pacific and the Far East in the 80’s and 90’s, then sailed across the Atlantic and left her in France.
The second owner was a British marine surveyor who sailed her all over the Mediterranean.
SV 'Heart' is moulded as a single piece laminate of 24 layers with 5.6 tonne
encapsulated ballast and has a cutter rig with a deck stepped single spreader
mast. The deck is sandwich cored laminate for insulation and strength. She still has her original teak deck which is glued to the deck rather than screwed in. The underwater surfaces are epoxy coated.
Saloon:
SV 'Heart' has a large cozy and safe cockpit with fitted cushions. She has
two double cabins, two single saloon berths, a pilot berth and a toilet with an independent
shower stall.
The interior contains a lot of varnished solid teak, a well equipped galley and a
new gimbled propane stove.
Accommodation: (two cabin, two head layout)
There is a forward cabin with a double berth, a hanging locker, 2 lockers
and 3 drawers. The bathroom has a sink, marble surface, chemical portable toilet and a separate shower compartment. Opposite the bathroom are 2 large hanging
lockers with internal lights, 2 cave lockers and 1 drawer.
Further aft opens the saloon in a wide-open arrangement with
the galley aft in the same area entered from the cockpit deck
downwards through the companionway. The starboard sofa can be turned into a full pull out single berth and there is a pilot berth, a single fixed berth on the portside.
There is storage under and behind the U-shaped seating/table and
under the starboard sofa. Behind the sofa there are book shelves. The engine space is completely accessible underneath the galley. All 14 bronze portlights, skylight, deck
hatches and companionway have fitted mosquito nets.
